Happy Easter Everyone

We should finally hear the sound of waves this weekend as the ice on the bay should finally disappear along with any last traces of snow. The signs of a hard winter are evident on our shoreline with loss of beach grass and erosion.  We have more stones than we remember down near the park making walking difficult. Tiny Township has removed snow fencing from our beach paths.  We thank them for assisting with our efforts to keep the sand from blowing off our beach during the winter months.

WBPOA wishes you a fun safe weekend.

GARBAGE UPDATE:

>Coffee disks go in the garbage, even the ones labelled compostable or recyclable.

>Black plastic goes in the garbage even though it has a recycle symbol.  Optical sorters confuse this item with conveyor belts.

NEW FOR YOUR GREEN BIN

In order to further reduce garbage, Pet waste, kitty litter and small animal bedding has been added to the green bin program.  The addition was made possible due to any agreement with a new facility to process organics.  Compostable bags, look for the compostable symbol, available from your pet food store, must be used for pet waste.  Biodegradable, plastic bags, plastic liners and litter boxes are not accepted in the green bin.

EARTH WEEK - APRIL 22nd-27th

Please do your part to keep our community and beach clean.  Pick up any trash that you see and recycle where you can. WBPOA will organize a beach clean up later in the season if necessary.   Check out the attachment to see what is happening in Tiny Township.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH UPDATE:

We would like to thank one of our members for advising us that patio furniture was taken from their porch roadside and cushions from the beach side in early April.  Cottages and seasonal homes are the most vulnerable to property crime during the fall, winter and spring when they are not being used by the property owner.  If you suspect something unusual, such as a car in the driveway, start by recording information such as a licence plate, colour of vehicle, time of day.  You are not expected to get involved - just be aware.  N/W has not had reports of any other occurrences.
